ARCHIVED - Hospitalisations fall by a quarter in a week: Andalusia Covid update October 11
70 fewer patients being treated for coronavirus in wards across the region as positive trend continues
In addition to a 25% fall in the number of people with Covid occupying hospital beds across Andalucía, the Ministry of Health has confirmed new cases and fatalities are also down on last week’s figures.
The positive curve has meant the 14-day cumulative incidence rate is teetering above 30 cases per 100,000 people, below the national average of 48.92 (according to the last update on Friday October 8).
A breakdown of the weekend’s data shows:
New infections
The 171 positive cases recorded over the weekend is down on the 199 recorded last week. A breakdown shows: Almería recorded 42 new cases; Málaga (42); Huelva (23); Córdoba (17); Granada (16); Cádiz (14); Sevilla (14) and Jaén (three).
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative incidence remains at a low risk level and has fallen by just over 12 points in seven days, from 42.7 points per 100,000 inhabitants on Monday October 4, to 31.99.
Hospitalisations
Andalucía recorded this Monday a total of 215 hospitalised patients for Covid-19, which is 70 fewer than last Monday. Patients admitted to the ICU from 85 to 68.
By provinces: Almería, 31 hospitalisations, of which 13 in ICU; Cádiz, nine of whom 6 in ICU; Córdoba, 18 with seven in ICU; Granada, 16 with five in ICU; Huelva, nine with five in ICU: Jaén, 14 and none in ICU; Malaga, 64 with 16 in ICU; and Seville, 54 of whom 16 are in ICU.
Deaths
There has been one Covid-related death reported in Andalucía, two fewer than last week.
Recoveries
A total of 790,222 people have recovered from coronavirus in Andalucía since the start of the pandemic, 92 of them over this weekend alone.
Vaccinations
A grand total of 112,885,925 vaccines have been administered in Andalucía, meaning that 6,713,768 people are now double jabbed. That’s 79.3% of the region’s adult population, or 90% if you count over-12s.
