ARCHIVED - Helicopter rescue after kayaking accident in Denia
The 33-year-old victim had been kayaking in Les Rotes in the Marina Alta, Alicante province
A woman was airlifted to Denia Fire Station before being taken to a nearby hospital after breaking her leg when she slipped trying to get off a kayak near Cova Tallida, a scenic oceanfront cave close to Les Rotes in Denia.
Alicante Firefighters received reports a 33-year-old who had suffered a broken tibia and fibula when she fell from the kayak on Friday lunchtime (August 27).

Crews were sent to the scene but an initial rescue by sea "presented difficulties" and the province's Alpha 1 helicopter was drafted in, transporting the injured woman to Denia Fire Station where an ambulance was waiting to take the victim to hospital.
Last week, a French couple and their two-year-old were forced to jump overboard and swim to safety after their boat malfunctioned close to Cova Tollada between Denia and Javea.
