ARCHIVED - Four earthquakes registered off Alicante coast on Monday
The seismic tremors took place off the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante

Four earthquakes were registered off the coast of Alicante in the early hours of Monday morning (August 30), following an intense earthquake felt off the Andalucía coast on Saturday (August 28).
The first three seismic tremors took place in a 15-minute window between 00.50am and 1.05am, while the fourth happened a few hours later, just after 3.00am.
First, a 2.8 magnitude earthquake was registered with a 1,000-metre deep epicentre at 00.50am, followed by a 2.0 tremor with a much deeper epicentre (24,000 metres) eight minutes later.
The most intense earthquake, 3.8 on the Richter scale and 7,000 metres deep, was registered at 1.04am and is the strongest earthquake in the province of Alicante so far this year.
Another, less intense, seismic tremor was recorded slightly closer to the Alicante shore at 3.11am and had a magnitude of 1.9 and a depth of 15,000 metres.
These earthquakes are related to the South Alboran series of seismic tremors, where 72 earthquakes of different magnitudes have been recorded in the last 24 hours, as the Eurasian and African tectonic plates rub together in the Alboran sea in between the Costa del Sol (Andalucía) and the African continent.
