ARCHIVED - Flames from car fire spark blaze at Orihuela paint shop
The burning vehicle was parked less than two metres from the paint store in the Vega Baja town, Alicante province
The façade of paint shop in Orihuela has been destroyed and the interior totally smoke damaged after a car parked less than two metres from the store doorway caught fire and spread to the building.
The alarm was raised just after 2pm on Monday August 8, with reports of a car and building fire in Calle Bigastro in the Correntías area of Orihuela.
According to Alicante Firefighters' Consortium, flames quickly spread from the vehicle and caused extensive damage outside and smoke bellowed inside "following the combustion".
Three fire engines and crews dealt with the flames before making sure the building was safe. It's not clear what caused the initial blaze and Orihuela police are looking into the incident.
