Festive season in full swing in Torrevieja
Discover drone shows, parades, ice skating and family-friendly events still to enjoy this Christmas in Torrevieja and La Mata
Christmas in Torrevieja is already under way, with the popular Carols in the Square having kicked things off last week. Now the focus turns to a whole string of festive events that will keep the town buzzing right through to Three Kings.The Ayuntamiento has put together a busy calendar of more than 40 activities in Torrevieja and La Mata, with something for all ages and plenty of reasons to come into town, meet friends and enjoy the atmosphere.
Dates to add to your diary
Here are some of the upcoming highlights still to enjoy:
- Sunday December 21: Christmas Drone Show (Dronlight Show) on the Juan Aparicio promenade, at 6.30pm and 8.00pm
- Tuesday December 23 and Wednesday December 24: Santa’s House in Torrevieja and La Mata, with letter delivery and children’s entertainment
- Tuesday December 23: Grand Santa Claus Parade from 6.30pm, with snowmen, unicorns, fairies, elves and, of course, Santa himself
- Friday December 26: Opening of the free synthetic ice rink in Plaza Encarnación Puchol (La Mata), open until Thursday January 1
- Tuesday December 30: Children’s San Silvestre race in La Mata at 11.30am, plus the night-time San Silvestre race in the Port of Torrevieja in the afternoon
- Wednesday December 31: Children’s New Year’s Eve at 12.00pm in Plaza de la Constitución, followed by the New Year’s Eve celebration and chimes at midnight
- Saturday January 3 and Sunday January 4: Royal Campout, when the Three Kings will collect children’s letters in Torrevieja and La Mata from 4.30pm to 7.30pm
- Monday January 5: Grand Three Kings Parade from 4.30pm, bringing the 2025 Christmas season to a close
A Christmas that supports local life
Alongside the shows and family activities, the programme also gives a lift to local businesses. Shops in Torrevieja and La Mata are joining in with festive window displays, Christmas poinsettias and 30,000 recycled bags to encourage shopping locally. The 22nd Christmas Window Display Competition adds extra sparkle to the streets and helps create that special “Christmas in town” feeling.It is a programme designed to fill every corner of Torrevieja and La Mata with light, music and community spirit, while giving local shops a boost. For residents, it is the perfect reason to stay close to home this festive season, make the most of what is on offer and enjoy Christmas just a short walk or drive away.
