ARCHIVED - Festival of Tapas and Cocktails in San Fulgencio: October 29 to November 1
16 bars and restaurants are taking part in this year's four-day event in the Vega Baja town, Alicante province
San Fulgencio is celebrating its 6th annual Tapas Route this weekend, with the addition of its first Cocktail Trail.
"This is a long-awaited event for the town after having to suspend the 2020 edition due to the health crisis, but which, thanks to the improvement of the situation, will allow both residents and visitors to relax and enjoy our local gastronomy," explained Councillor for Tourism, Darren Parmenter.
The public will be able to sample and vote for the best of the 16 tapas prepared by the participating establishments, which will be served with a drink at a price of 2.50 euros. They will also be able to choose their favourite amongst the 10 varieties of cocktails, which will cost four euros each.
To vote, and be in with a chance to win 200 euros in a draw, entrants must submit a ‘tapaporte’ or ‘cocktailporte’, which are available at the Tourist Office and participating establishments.
There will also be a prize for the most liked selfie, which will be a 60-euro voucher to spend in any of the venues participating in the route. Entrants are invited to send a snap of themselves enjoying a tapa to sanfulgencio@touristinfo.net
The photos will be uploaded to the town hall's official Facebook, and the winner – whichever receives the most likes – will be announced at 2pm on Friday November 5.
"San Fulgencio is a remarkable tourist town, and we are delighted to be able to organise this type of activity once again, the main aim of which is to boost the leisure sector and the local economy and support the hotel and catering industry, which has been so badly affected by the pandemic," said San Fulencio Mayor, José Sampere.
A free bus service will connect the town centre and urbanisation venues during the four-day event on presentation of a ‘tapaporte’ or ‘cocktailporte’.
