ARCHIVED - Female hiker in helicopter rescue after passing out on Alicante mountain range
The 48-year-old suffered suspected heatstroke whilst walking the Vall de Laguer route in the Marina Alta region of Alicante province

A helicopter rescue team was rushed to Vall de Laguer, an inland village in the Marina Alta area of Alicante province, after a female hiker lost consciousness shortly after starting the popular mountain trekking route.
The alarm was raised just after 5.30pm when the 48-year-old suffered suspected heatstroke, was unresponsive and had a weak pulse, according to sources from the Alicante Provincial Fire Brigade Consortium.

The victim passed out shortly into the hike, 2km from the start of the P-147 route in Vall de Laguar, and, due to the location and the woman's reported condition, the Alpha 01 helicopter was deployed with a GER high altitude rescue group on board.
Once they located the woman, the team began resuscitation maneuvers whilst she was transferred directly to Denia consortium park where a SAMU ambulance was waiting to take her to a nearby hospital.
