ARCHIVED - February 5 to 26 Alcalali in bloom festival
This colourful Feslalí Festival celebrates the annual flowering of almond trees in Alcalali, in the Marina Alta region of Alicante province

Once again, the arrival of February has brought with it the flowering of almond trees and the annual 'Feslalí, Alcalalí en flor' - Alcalalí's traditional and much-loved festival of gastronomy, hiking, photography, music, crafts, and much more.
Feslalí is held over four weeks with a packed programme that showcases Alcalalí's stunning landscape, wildlife, culture and history. Another popular attraction is the two-day Earth Products and Crafts Fair.
Here's a full breakdown of what's going on:
Saturday February 4
7pm: Start of the VII Photographic Marathon Feslalí 2023. Rules and registration.
Sunday February 5
10am: 6km walk entitled 'The animals of the Mediterranean forest'. This is a 'low difficulty' trek in a circular route that takes approximately two-and-a-half hours. Meet in Town Hall Square and explore the local environment, learn more about the history of the hydraulic history. Places are limited and must be reserved.
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
12 noon to 2pm: Entries to the VII Photographic Marathon Feslalí 2023 will be unveiled at the Ethnological Museum.
Wednesday February 8
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
Friday February 10
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
Saturday February 11
10am: Guided urban walk entitled 'Let's discover Alcalalí' to discover the architectural, historical and landscape heritage of the town. The walk takes about one-and-a-half hours and departs from Town Hall Square. Places must be reserved (see below).
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
Sunday February 12
8.30am: 5km ornithological route 'The ecosystems of Alcalalí' departing from Town Hall Square. This walk offers the opportunity to find out more about the fascinating world of birds with Mateo, a local ornithologist who carries out bird censuses at different times of the year using the scientific ringing technique. The group will be divided: some will take part in ringing, others will go on an interpretative walk in search of birds. Places must be reserved.
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
12 noon: VII Photographic Marathon Feslalí 2023 awards ceremony in Town Hall Square.
12.30pm: Almond Sweets and Cakes Competition in Town Hall Square. Anyone who likes cooking and sweets can sign up and take part.
Wednesday February 15
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
Friday February 17
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.

Saturday February 18
10m: Pet friendly walk 'On route with our pet'. This is an 8km walk through the almond, orange, olive and carob trees groves. Dogs must be on a lead and places reserved in advance.

Sunday February 19
10am: 4.5km ethnobotanical route 'Good herbs: uses and virtues' that will follow asphalted paths between terraces of different crops such as orange trees, vines, olive trees, carob trees and almond trees. The forgotten traditional uses of wild plants will be recovered while discovering the origins of the Mosquera area.
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
12.30pm: Herb workshop in the town library in which participants will learn how to make the most of seasonal plants.
Wednesday February 22
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
Friday February 24
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.

Saturday February 25
All day: Trade fair in the town centre
8.30am: 12km hike 'La Peña Atalaya' departing from Town Hall Square.
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
4.30pm: Family Circus Workshop.
6pm: Aromatic herbs workshop.
8pm: Fire and juggling show in Town Hall Square.
Sunday February 26
10am: 4.5km interpretative walk 'Mosquera: culture and nature'. This is a 'low difficulty' walk through the Mosquera district, and places must be reserved.
10.30am to 1.30pm: Visits to the Medieval Tower.
11am: Opening of the Crafts and Earth Products Fair in Calle Porxe.
11am to 2pm: Traditional games made by hand with recycled materials, for all tastes and ages. Games of strategy, ingenuity, skill, competition will be held in Town Hall Square.
12 noon: Performance by "Cantacançons" Dani Miquel. Traditional Valencian children's songs through Dani's magic filter.
4pm: Textile painting workshop in the library.
6pm: Official closing of the craft fair.
