Expat living in Benidorm is arrested for filming women in toilet with hidden camera
A hole was made in a toilet picture frame to record customers with a mobile phone
The National Police of Spain have arrested a 27-year-old man from Nepal, living in Benidorm, for recording women inside the toilet of a bar. The man recorded images of the establishment’s clients as well as some of the employees who worked there.
The man was arrested after a number of clients of the bar notified the National Police that they suspected they were being filmed in the toilets. The clients stated that they had found a mobile phone behind a painting frame in the toilet and were afraid that they were being filmed.
When the National Police arrived at the establishment they recovered the mobile phone behind the painting and inspected the evidence. It was then that they discovered that the alleged perpetrator of the crime was one of the establishment’s employees and after that he was immediately arrested.
During the subsequent investigation, the National Police discovered that the worker had installed the mobile terminal the day before, as he had used the women’s toilet to change before starting his work day. It was found that at least five women were recorded, two of them being the establishment’s own workers.
The detainee has not got a criminal record but has now been charged with the crime of discovering and revealing secrets. According to the police, he was placed at the disposal of the Benidorm Court of Instruction, with the investigation being open for the discovery of other possible victims.
