Emergencies declared on two flights landing at Tenerife South Airport
Pilots on two separate flights requested urgent medical assistance upon landing at Tenerife South-Reina Sofía Airport
Passengers on two separate flights arriving at Tenerife South-Reina Sofía Airport on Saturday February 1 experienced mid-air medical emergencies, prompting both pilots to request medical assistance from air traffic controllers upon landing.
The first incident involved an easyJet flight from Paris, which declared a medical emergency while en route to the Canary Islands. Cabin crew alerted authorities, ensuring that medical personnel were on standby when the aircraft landed.
Shortly after, a Norwegian Airlines flight from Stockholm also reported a medical emergency, requiring similar priority handling. Emergency teams at Tenerife South were ready to assist as soon as the plane touched down.
Airport authorities have confirmed that medical assistance was provided to the affected passengers, though no further details have been released regarding their conditions. Both flights landed safely, and normal airport operations were not disrupted.
While in-flight medical emergencies are rare, airline crews are trained to respond swiftly, and Tenerife South Airport has procedures in place to ensure passengers receive urgent care when needed.
