ARCHIVED - Elderly man drowns on San Pedro del Pinatar beach
Murcia beachgoers and health workers tried unsuccessfully to save the man

A 70-year-old man sadly drowned on the beach of La Puntica in San Pedro del Pinatar on Sunday evening, June 5.
Several beachgoers contacted the emergency services at around 6.30pm, reporting that the man was floating, unconscious, in the water. Officers from the San Pedro del Pinatar Local Police, along with a Mobile Emergency Unit and an ambulance all rushed to the scene.

While waiting for the arrival of the paramedics, those who had called the emergency line followed instructions and tried to resuscitate the elderly man, efforts which were continued by the medics, but sadly, the victim died at the scene.
