Finally, a solution to leaving your phone unguarded on the beach – and you can even charge it at the same time!
Playa del Postiguet is Alicante City’s main municipal beach, popular among both locals and tourists for its 667m of soft sand. And it has something that makes it even more special than most other beaches…
It’s a problem we’ve all faced. You go to the beach and want to go in the water, or take a wander along the coast. But what do you do with all your stuff? Money? Phone? Keys?
On Playa del Postiguet there’s a simple – yet ingenious – solution that has left many wondering why they didn’t come up with it sooner.
The beach has its own lockers so that visitors can leave their bags and belongings inside to stay safe from prying hands while they’re away.
There are a total of 57 lockers – maybe not enough for everyone on the beach, but it’s a start! They vary in size to be able to store everything from suitcases and backpacks to wallets, keys and mobile phones.
And they even have a built-in charging point powered by two solar panels located on the top, so you can charge your mobile phone and care for the environment at the same time!
The locker service was actually first introduced in summer 2019, but was discontinued in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. Now, the Alicante authorities have brought it back due to popular demand.
The locker service is located at access one of the beach, directly on the sand, and can be rented by the hour or for a whole day. The price varies depending on the time and size of the locker.
The service is provided by the same third-party contractor who also rents the sun loungers, but it is fully automatic and has an integrated cash dispenser.
Prices start from just 1 euro, so now you know. Next time you’re at the beach – don’t get locked into one spot, rent a locker instead!
