ARCHIVED - Denia reopens its accessible beaches from today June 15
Punta del Raset is the first adapted beach to open in Denia in the Marina Alta, Alicante province.
Denia has reopened the first of its four accessible beaches along its 20 km coastline today, Tuesday, June 15.
Sections of Punta del Raset beach, amongst the most popular in Europe for windsurfers all year round, have been adapted to ensure everyone can enjoy Denia's shoreline.
There are amphibious chairs suitable for the sand, wooden walkways to the sea and adapted toilet and bathrooms with assistance from Red Cross (Cruz Roja) staff where necessary between 11am and 6.30pm, Monday to Sunday.
People with reduced mobility or vision and the elderly can book the service in advance by calling 678 408 821.
Services on Denia's other three accessible and adapted beaches, Les Marines, Les Bovetes and Marineta, will be officially launched on July 1.
Another popular coastal destination, Calpe which is 34km away from Denia, reopened its adapted beaches with facilities for people with reduced mobility last week.
