December 8 Tomato competition in the Aguilas village of El Garrobillo!
The traditional rural fiestas return to the agricultural countryside of the north-east of Águilas
The annual fiestas of the tiny village of El Garrobillo in Águilas always feature an event closely related to the agriculture in the area, namely the “Ramillete de Tomate” contest which takes place at the local church on December 8, the feast day of the Immaculate Conception.
This year the competition starts at 17.00 with everyone welcome to enter their own home-grown bunches of tomatoes into one of two categories, red or green. The first 80 entrants will receive a small ceramic gift in appreciation of their participation.
If visiting Águilas your first port of call should be the local tourist office (click here for map, telephone 968 493285, email turismo@aguilas.es).
For more local events, news and visiting information go to the home page of Águilas Today.
