ARCHIVED - Covid restrictions: no need to leave a free seat when eating and drinking in cinemas
As of today, cinema- and theatregoers in Alicante and Valencia do not have to leave a space between them and others
From today, Thursday March 17, the Regional Ministry of Health in the Valencian Community is removing the obligation to leave a free seat in the same row between people or groups of people who are not living together in cinemas, theatres, multidisciplinary halls and similar venues in cases where food and drink are consumed.
Up until now, the need to leave a free space when in a cinema or theatre where eating and drinking are allowed was one of the few remaining coronavirus restrictions in the region, as the Covid-19 situation steadily improves.
The news comes at the same time as the regional authorities decide to no longer request a Covid certificate from people wanting to enter and visit elderly care homes.
Nursing homes were the last stronghold where the Covid pass was still required, as it was scrapped for access to hotels, bars, restaurants, gyms and other public places more than three weeks ago.
The new measure to allow patrons to sit and close to each other as they want in theatres and cinemas comes into force this Thursday after its publication in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat Valenciana.
