The Vega Baja area of Alicante province can expect temperatures of up to 24ºC

After a pleasant and predominantly dry weekend for most of Alicante province, low cloud marks the start of the week and looks set to continue with scattered showers and even the occasional thunderstorm until Thursday April 21.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), on Monday, cloud will spread further inland from midday, and light rain with possible thunderstorms are likely together with a slight drop in temperatures along the coast and south-easterly winds in the afternoon.

Alcoy: lows of 11ºC and highs of 20ºC
Alicante: 14ºC t0 21ºC
Denia: 13ºC to 21ºC
Elche: 13ºC to 22ºC
Orihuela: 13ºC to 24ºC

With the exception of the south of the province, Tuesday will also get off to a cloudy start, and scattered showers are not ruled out in the north, although they are forecast to subside in the afternoon. Again, little or no change to temperatures with variable east and north easterly winds; moderate on the coast and light inland.

Alcoy: 10ºC to 20ºC
Alicante: 14ºC t0 21ºC
Denia: 12ºC to 20ºC
Elche: 13ºC to 21ºC
Orihuela: 13ºC to 22ºC

The picture looks very similar on Wednesday, although widespread showers are expected throughout the province with occasional thunderstorms in the afternoon. Temperatures will fall slightly, and strong gusts are forecast along the coast; light to moderate inland.

Alcoy: 7ºC to 13ºC
Alicante: 12ºC t0 19ºC
Denia: 10ºC to 18ºC
Elche: 11ºC to 18ºC
Orihuela: 12ºC to 18ºC

Thursday looks set to be cloudy or overcast and showers are likely in the morning in coastal areas, although more scattered rainfall has not been ruled out inland. However, they are expected to subside in the afternoon and mercury will rise with the Vega Baja set to enjoy temperatures of up to 24ºC.

Denia: 11ºC to 21ºC
Elche: 12ºC to 23ºC
Orihuela: 12ºC to 24ºC
