ARCHIVED - Chinese boy, 12, beaten in suspected xenophobic attack at Alicante school
The family of the young student at a secondary school (IES) in Alicante has reported to the 'hate crime' to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office

A 12-year-old Chinese pupil was allegedly viciously punched several times in the face and verbally abused by fellow students at a secondary school in Alicante in what is being treated as a xenophobic attack.
The child's family have reported the 'hate crime' to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office and the school is also reportedly dealing with the assault in-house and has expelled one of the alleged attackers.
The events unfolded on Monday October 10 at the IES Rado Exterior institution in Alicante city. The young victim was cornered by four classmates who punched him numerous times in the face, causing bleeding from the boy's mouth and nose, and bruising, all the while shouting "you Chinese s**t".
The schoolboy has been living in Alicante for two years, and until last year, attended a public school La Almadraba, attached to the IES Radio Exterior, where everything was fine, his father told Spanish press.
"During the first months of the school year, he had no problems with his classmates (at IES) either: It's a different school and different rules, but he was adapting perfectly until a fortnight ago when they started calling him 'Chinese s**t' and 'son of a b***h'," he added.
Two of the alleged aggressors are in the same class as the victim, and two others are in a grade above.
Sources from the Regional Ministry of Education have confirmed that the Plan for the prevention of violence and promotion of coexistence in the classroom (Previ) has been activated, and a report has been filed with the prosecutor's office.
