Cheap high-speed trains between Murcia and Madrid on track to begin on December 10
The low-cost AVE between Murcia and the Spanish capital will be up and running in December
Right on time for a spot of Christmas shopping in the capital, Renfe’s first high-speed AVLO rail connection between Murcia and Madrid’s Chamartín Clara Campoamor station will begin on Sunday December 10.
Tickets have already gone on sale for as little as 7 euros each way.
These new high-speed, low cost trains will run once a day in each direction and offer 5,000 seats weekly. The carriages will stop at the intermediate stations of Orihuela Miguel Hernández, Elx A.V, Alicante, Villena A.V, Albacete Los Llanos and Cuenca Fernando Zóbel.
Renfe’s AVLOs will depart every day from Madrid at 6.15am and the return leg will leave Murcia at 10.32am.
While tickets for this high-demand service start at 7 euros, the sale will be managed through a dynamic system so that the price will vary depending on demand. On top of the cost of the fare, passengers will have the choice of several add-ons including seat selection, changes or cancellations and additional luggage. The base price includes a free cabin suitcase and a second carry-on bag.
Children under 14 years of age will be able to travel at a basic fare of 5 euros once their ticket is purchased at the same time as an adult trip. Separate discounts of between 20% and 50% are available for large families.
With next week’s addition, a total of 10 daily trains will make the journey between Murcia and the Spanish capital, five trips in each direction. However, as of December 10, the AVE schedule will be changed to modify the new rail services.
