Cartagena weekly markets can go ahead this Easter and on festivos all this year
The weekly markets have been authorised for this Friday, as well as on the bank holidays next week and later in the year, too

The City Council of Cartagena has authorised the usual holding of weekly markets on all the major public holidays in 2025, in response to requests submitted by both individual vendors and the Association of Sellers of Squares and Markets of Cartagena.
Sometimes in Spain, when a weekly street market falls on a festivo day, the market is cancelled, but Cartagena has decided to allow most of its major markets go ahead this year.
Specifically, the markets of Urbanización Mediterráneo, Pozo Estrecho and Llano del Beal will be allowed to go ahead as normal on the following dates:
- Friday April 11 (Friday of Sorrows)
- Thursday April 17 (Maundy Thursday)
- Friday April 18 (Good Friday)
- Thursday May 1 (May Day)
- Friday August 15 (Feast of the Assumption)
- Friday September 26 (Carthaginians and Romans Fiesta)
The City Council has stated that the measure aims to guarantee the continuity of commercial activity, especially in areas where street markets are an important economic and social driving force, as well as facilitating the supply of goods to the public on special days.
