Bump in cruise liners brings record numbers to Alicante this October
About 19,000 passengers are expected between last Saturday and this Thursday
An MSC cruise liner in Alicante
The number of cruise passengers coming to Alicante city will hit a new high this week as the city's port expects to welcome about 19,000 visitors aboard seven liners booked to stopover between October 18 and 23.
According to the data from the association Alicante Costa Blanca por el Turismo de Cruceros (ALCTC), which promotes the city as a destination to the cruise sector, the first visit was the Queen Anne, owned by the Cunard (Carnival UK) shipping line.
It was carrying up to 2,996 passengers from Great Britain and arrived at 8am on Saturday, then departed at 8pm.
It was followed on Sunday by the Arvia (also Carnival UK), which was carrying up to 5,200 passengers from the UK and was docked from about 9am until 5pm.
The stopovers continued on Monday with the MSC Música, with up to 3,013 passengers of various nationalities, from 8am to 5pm.
That same day, the Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Sky brought about 1,944 passengers from the USA from 7am until 5pm.
Today, Tuesday October 21, the Club Med 2 belonging to Columbia Shipmanagement arrived at 8am with up to 387 passengers on a voyage from Cyprus, who will set off again at 6pm.
Tomorrow, the MSC Divina will stopover in Alicante from 8am to 6pm with up to 4,345 passengers of various nationalities.
And finally, on Thursday the Explora II, also belonging to MSC Cruises and another luxury liner, will bring up to 900 passengers of various nationalities between 9am and 5pm.
