ARCHIVED - Boat carrying 14 illegal immigrants reaches Benidorm coastline
The patera was intercepted at Levante beach in the Marina Baixa this morning, Tuesday, July 20.
A boat with 14 irregular immigrants from Algeria on board reached Benidorm's Levante beach at around 7am Tuesday morning, having been at sea for two days, according to Cruz Roja (the Red Cross).
The passengers, all adults, are said to be a "good state of health", despite arriving on the Costa Blanca coastline in "precarious conditions", and have been transported safely to Alicante port where they will be assisted by Red Cross volunteers and tested for coronavirus.
Any who test positive for Covid will be placed into quarantine.
Earlier this month, a patera with 17 irregular immigrants on board was intercepted off the coast between Benidorm and Altea - the fifth to reach Alicante province's coastline in just 48 hours.
