ARCHIVED - Bespoke dog park complete with agility course opens in Benidorm
The Marina Baixa pet park boasts a seesaw and gym on 700 m2 of pet-friendly space
Animal lovers in Benidorm can now stretch their legs in the most creative of ways by enjoying the 700m2 agility course which is incorporated into an impressive new dog park, situated in Benicán del Rincón de Loix, on Avenida Bernat de Sarrià, next to the Antonio López Football Fields.
Back in October, the City Council promised to respond “to requests from citizens” and create a bespoke space where dog owners could take their pooches to put them through their paces with a range of games, activities and training areas. Thus, Benidorm is “little by little covering each neighbourhood” with pet-friendly spots.
The unique area includes fun equipment such as a seesaw, dribble and gym where both owners and pets can get in shape while learning new skills in a fun environment.

Councillor for Public Spaces, José Ramón González de Zárate, stressed that Benidorm is at the forefront of public areas dedicated to dogs: in addition to the new features at Rincón de Loix, parks at La Cala, on Avenida Marina Alta, Els Tolls, on Calle Italia and Colonia Madrid, in the Parque de Foietes welcome pets, while three ‘for use by all’ zones are already installed at Vía Parque, on Vicente Pérez Devesa avenue and on Presidente Adolfo Suárez street (both with agility zones), and the “very large” Parque de l'Aigüera leisure park.
Given the level of investment in the new park, the councillor has appealed to pet owners to take good care of their dog parks, and urged them to treat “the street as an extension of their living room at home,” by adequately picking up after their animals.
