Batten down the hatches for some strong winds over the next couple of days
Aemet has warned of strong winds in northern Murcia and Alicante this Saturday
Murcia and Alicante wind alerts, Saturday January 11
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow warning for this Saturday January 11 in the Altiplano region, in the northeast of the Region of Murcia.
This alert, which forecasts gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour, will be active from 6am to 8pm. The local town councils of the municipalities of Jumilla and Yecla have asked their residents to take extreme precautions on this day.
The coast of southern Alicante, bordering on Murcia, will also be on yellow alert at the same time and, while other areas will not be issued the yellow warning, it is likely that central Murcia and parts of the Mar Menor, including La Manga del Mar Menor, may experience strong winds on Saturday and even beforehand, on Friday evening, January 10.
At the same time, it is forecast to remain fairly sunny with high temperatures on Saturday, though these are expected to drop sharply on Sunday January 12 and going into the beginning of next week.
On Monday 13, maximum temperatures are not forecast to exceed 15ºC, and minimums will drop as low as 4-7ºC in central and southern Murcia and down to -4ºC in Jumilla and Yecla.
