ARCHIVED - Kiosks and sun loungers to return to the beaches of Torrevieja beaches at Easter

Sunshades and water sports will also resume and a new swimming lane

The beaches in Torrevieja will welcome back their usual sun lounger, sunshade and water sports services starting this Easter, and at the same time new contracts have been signed for the beach bars or chiringuitos.

The sun loungers and aquatic activity services, including pedalos, jet skis and water inflatables, were not officially provided in 2019 and 2020 due to their contracts having expired, while the beach kiosks weren’t provided last summer partially due to the pandemic, as no contract was formalized.

The city council has provisionally awarded administrative authorization to Recreativos Acuáticos Horadada for the use of land in the maritime-terrestrial public domain from Easter until 31st October, when they will supply sun loungers, umbrellas and recreational aquatic activities.

The contract holder will also have to provide four shaded pergolas for people with reduced mobility as well as taking on the installation of buoys along the coastline without damaging the seabed and the protected seagrass. In addition, they will install six buoys to trace a special swimming canal at the Playa de Los Náufragos, while the largest number of sun loungers will be provided along Playa de la Mata.

All of the 10 beach bars will be given a makeover, and in general they will be located as in previous years with one additional chiringuito at Playa de los Náufragos and another at La Mata.
