Tours of the historic attraction in Alicante are being offered daily until February 27

Santa Barbara Castle in Alicante is now offering daily guided tours in English and dramatised visits until February 27.

In addition to the tours, a cultural programme for the weekends will include activities and shows, historical re-enactments, aerial ballet, acrobatics, live music, children's workshops and exhibitions.

The castle, which is open from 10am to 6pm, is also hosting a series of gastronomic activities to promote Alicante wine and products.

The line-up for the first weekend is as follows:

Saturday January 29, 12.30pm: Performance by Magician Álvaro

Sunday January 30, 11.30am and 1.30pm: Children's storytelling by Trapisonda

Sunday January 30, 12 noon: The castle's first dramatised visit.

"With these guided tours and events, Santa Barbara Castle begins a new journey offering a complete programme of cultural, musical, gastronomic and leisure activities for Alicante residents and visitors," said Councillor for Tourism, Mari Carmen, adding: "It is an ambitious programme with which we want to energise and revitalise this unique space, a hallmark of Alicante's identity."
