ARCHIVED - Benidorm set to create new walking, running and cycling routes
New paths and routes for walkers, runners and cyclists will be created at Serra Gelada in Benidorm, Alicante Province.
Benidorm Council is teaming up with sports clubs and associations to design mountain trails and circuits to promote outdoor sports and healthy and sustainable tourism.
The plan is follow the format of the municipality's El Moralet Green Circuit, currently under construction, which will eventually connect La Cala to Serra Gelada.
The two projects are part of Benidorm's Tourism Sustainability Plans, which "must be completed before the end of 2022", and will cover more than 400 acres of green space.
"Benidorm is not only a tourist destination for sun and beach, it is an environmental destination," said the council which has been consulting with Benidorm's Athletics Club and the Mountain Bike Section (BTT) of the Cycling Union.
