ARCHIVED - Barrio de San Roque festivities in Torrevieja: August 12-17
The Torrevieja neighbourhood in the Vega Baja, Alicante province will celebrate its patron saint with five days of music and entertainment

Excitement is building in the the San Roque district of Torrevieja as the neighbourhood prepares to celebrate its patron saint festivities with a six-day program of events for all the family.
The fiestas, which will take place from August 12 to 17, are organised by the San Roque Association and the Parish of San Roque and Santa Ana, and sponsored by Torrevieja Town Council.
The events will take place in and around the Parish Church grounds. Here's what to expect:
Friday August 12, 7pm: Children's entertainment and a free snack for all the youngsters attending while supplies last.
Friday August 12, 11.30pm: Tribute to Grupo Maná on stage behind the neighborhood Parish Church.
Saturday August 13, 2pm: Barbecue with attractive prices for attendees and 'two for one' for members of the San Roque Association.
Saturday August 13, 11pm: Night of reggaeton with live music.
Sunday August 14, 7pm: Summer carnival parade through the streets of the neighborhood followed by music with DJ Serge Salina at 11pm.
Monday August 15, 12 noon: Giant paella contest and tasting.
Monday August 15, 8pm: Recital of boleros, bachatas, salsa and copla by Cristina Lucendo followed by DJ Serge Salina.
Tuesday August 16, 8.30pm: Feast of San Roque Holy Mass in the Parish of San Roque and Santa Ana, officiated by the bishop of the diocese, Don José Ignacio Munilla Aguirre, in his first visit to Torrevieja as prelate of Orihuela-Alicante. At the end of the service, the traditional procession will begin with the images of San Roque and Santa Ana, followed by a firework display.
Wednesday August 17, 7pm: Children's entertainment.
Wedesday August 17, 8.30pm: Mass at the Parish of San Roque and Santa Ana followed by a performance by the Soul Dance Studio Dance School.
Wednesday August 17, 11.30pm: Music with the DJ Lycos and a foam party.
In addition, the San Roque Association will hold a raffle every evening between 9.30pm and 10pm, with proceeds going towards future festivities.
