ARCHIVED - 14th to 18th May, Feria de Mayo in Torrevieja
For four days the fiesta atmosphere of Andalucía comes to the seafront in Torrevieja
Torrevieja’s Feria de Mayo, which was declared an event of provincial tourist interest in 2012, is taking place this year from the evening of Wednesday 14th to Sunday 18th May, and will include a special homage to popular singer and actress Lolita Sevilla, who died in December. Lolita was named an honorary Daughter of Torrevieja in 1987 for the special relationship she had with the town.
Twenty-five temporary bar-restaurants and stands will be set up on the seafront next to the port, and throughout the four days of this Andalucía-style fiesta there will be plenty of music, dancing, eating and drinking. On the Saturday and the Sunday the highlights are the horses and carriages which will constantly be moving around the fair: around 280 horses are expected to be there, along with over 30 carriages.
The final of the Torrevieja Coplas competition for aspiring young singers will also take place during the Fair on 17th May.
