April holidays in the Region of Murcia: A month of long weekends
There are several local holidays in Murcia during April, as well as an especially long Easter weekend

After a pretty quiet March with no days off aside from San José on March 19, April is shaping up to be a month of long weekends in the Region of Murcia. With several municipalities celebrating their own unique holidays, you'll want to check the non-working days for both the Region and your local area.
March was a bit of a holiday drought but April more than makes up for it, especially with Easter just around the corner. Students in Murcia can look forward to a two-week break from school, and many of us will enjoy some well-deserved time off too.
Did you know that there are 12 national holidays in Spain in 2025? Nine of these are common to all autonomous communities and include big ones like New Year's Day, Good Friday and Labour Day.
The other three holidays are chosen by each region and in the case of Murcia, we’re celebrating Holy Thursday with a day off this year, which is just around the corner on April 17.
April 2025 holidays in the Region of Murcia
Now on to the good part – all of the holidays we can look forward over the next few weeks.
For starters, we've got a long weekend coming up from Holy Thursday on April 17 until Easter Sunday on the 20th, since April 17 and 18 are both holidays.
And if you're in Murcia municipality, you can also look forward to a holiday on Tuesday April 22, which is the Day of the Bando de la Huerta. That's a whole six days off for some of us!
But it's not just Murcia that's getting in on the holiday action. Cartagena is celebrating its Patron Saint's Day on Friday April 11, which means a three-day weekend for some.
In addition to Bando Day, Abarán celebrates Día de la Mona on April 22nd, which is also a holiday. In Las Torres de Cotillas, this Tuesday is also a day off.
In Los Alcázares, Easter Monday, April 21, is a holiday, as it is in Ceutí and Jumilla.
Pliego and Blanca are celebrating the San Marcos festival on April 25, while Abanilla is gearing up for its Moors and Christians festivities, which kick off on April 30 and run until May 2nd.
