Rising temperatures, Saharan dust and storms: Andalucia weather forecast August 31-September 3
Possible storms and muddy rain will interrupt the sunshine on Tuesday, with temperatures rising again inland as the week progresses

After a lovely few days of cooler, more autumn-like temperatures, another heatwave is on the horizon for Spain. Andalucia isn't expected to escape the warmer weather completely, although temperatures will initially dip inland on Tuesday before climbing again.
There is also a chance of showers and storms on Tuesday, and some Saharan dust in the air could also mean muddy rain in places. Along the coast, the weather will be a little different, with periods of cloud expected along the Mediterranean and around the Strait of Gibraltar over the next few days.
Here is the daily breakdown for Andalucia from Monday, August 31 to Thursday, September 3:
Monday August 31
Monday will be mostly clear across much of Andalucia, although there will be some cloud and fog along the coast. Temperatures will be high inland, reaching 36°C in Antequera and 35°C in Ronda. Málaga and Vélez-Málaga will both reach 30°C, while Marbella will be slightly cooler at 28°C.
Winds will be light and variable, with sea breezes developing.
Tuesday September 1
Tuesday brings a bit of a change, with more cloud and the possibility of some showers and storms, particularly inland. AEMET says that some of the showers could be accompanied by thunderstorms, while Saharan dust could mean muddy rain in places. The skies should become clearer during the afternoon. Temperatures will also drop inland, with Antequera reaching 32°C and Ronda 33°C. Málaga and Marbella will both reach 30°C, while Vélez-Málaga will reach 31°C.
Winds will be light and variable, with easterly winds along the western coast and moderate south-easterly winds developing around Antequera during the afternoon.
Wednesday September 2
Wednesday should be a little calmer, although there will still be plenty of cloud along the Mediterranean coast and around the Strait of Gibraltar. Most other areas should stay fairly clear, although cloud will build during the day over the eastern mountain areas, where AEMET says showers and occasional storms are possible.
Temperatures will start to climb again inland, with Ronda reaching 35°C and Antequera 34°C. Málaga will reach 31°C, while Vélez-Málaga and Marbella will reach 31°C and 30°C respectively.
Winds will be moderate from the east in the eastern parts of the region, while the Levante will become stronger around the Strait.
Thursday September 3
Thursday will be another mostly clear day away from the Mediterranean coast and the Strait of Gibraltar, where cloudy skies are expected. Temperatures will continue to rise inland, with both Antequera and Ronda forecast to reach 35°C. Marbella will reach 31°C, while Málaga and Vélez-Málaga will both reach 30°C.
The Levante winds will remain moderate in the eastern parts of the region and will be strong around the Strait.
It is worth keeping an eye on your local town hall social media pages and AEMET over the coming days, as another heatwave has been forecast for parts of Spain and the situation could change. If temperatures rise further, heat alerts could be put in place.
For now, though, Andalucia looks set to get a bit of everything over the next few days, with hot sunshine, some cloud, a chance of storms and muddy rain before temperatures start climbing again inland.
Minimum and maximum temperatures in Andalucia this week:

Monday August 31: Min 19; Max 36°C
Tuesday September 1: Min 19; Max 33°C
Wednesday September 2: Min 19; Max 35°C
