ARCHIVED - Altea recognised as a top quality tourism destination
The coastal town in the Marina Baixa was awarded a prestigious Sicted certificate at Madird's Fitfur tourism fair
Altea has been officially recognised as a top quality destination and awarded a Sicted (Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destinations) certificate by the Secretary of State for Tourism and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
Councillor for Tourism, Xelo González, was presented with the distinction at the 13th Sicted award ceremony at Madrid's Fitur tourism fair on Thursday January 20 in recognition of "important work carried out in 2021 to implement the integral system of Spanish tourism quality in destinations":
"It's an honour to receive this distinction from Sicted, which we have just joined as part of our policy of making Altea a quality, innovative and sustainable tourist destination," said González, adding: "The Tourism Department has worked very hard over the past year to achieve all the standards set by Sicted and other bodies, such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) certification."
The Sicted seal sets apart companies and official bodies that surpass the minimum required standards of quality in the tourist services they offer.
