ARCHIVED - Alicante police rescue Russian woman kidnapped for cryptocurrency codes
The woman was found gagged and bound in the back of a car in El Campello

Members of an itinerant group wanted for several house burglaries have been arrested after a Russian woman was kidnapped, bound, gagged and bundled into the boot of car in order to steal cryptocurrency access codes.
The victim was freed by police in El Campello at around 8pm on Sunday June 19 after her husband, also Russian, alerted police she had been kidnapped two hours earlier near San Juan beach after he refused to give the alleged captors access codes to their cryptocurrencies.
He told police she had been shoved into the boot of a car headed for El Campello, and several Guardia Civil and Local Police patrols launched a search operation, quickly locating the vehicle and rescuing the woman who was found gagged but in "good health".
Two of the alleged captors, a Spanish man and a Russian woman, were arrested, while a third managed to flee.
According to police sources, the arrested Russian woman accompanied the kidnappers and the victim in the vehicle to act as an interpreter. An investigation is ongoing and police are still trying to locate the third suspect.
