Alicante weather forecast Feb 8-11: Mild but damp this weekend
Rain is forecast in most parts of Alicante province but the temperatures will remain high
All winter the province of Alicante has been enjoying spring-like weather conditions, but the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts a change in the weather pattern for this weekend.
Starting on Friday, rain is expected to arrive, bringing relief to the dry spell that has marked the beginning of the hydrological year, which has seen the lowest levels of rain on record.
Thursday February 8
The sky will be mostly clear with intermittent high clouds during the morning, gradually becoming overcast in the afternoon. Scattered and light rain showers are expected in the interior during the late morning and early afternoon hours, with little to no impact on the coast.
Temperatures will steadily decrease along the coast, while remaining steady inland. Gentle breezes from the west and southwest will prevail, increasing in frequency and intensity during the second half of the day, especially along the coast.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Thursday
Alcoy: 8ºC to 20ºC
Alicante: 9ºC to 21ºC
Denia: 9ºC to 22ºC
Elche: 8ºC to 22ºC
Orihuela: 8ºC to 22ºC
Friday February 9
Friday will be largely cloudy or overcast, with heavy rain inland potentially spreading towards the coast in a weak and scattered manner. Minimum temperatures will experience a subtle increase, while daytime temperatures are expected to fall.
A moderate southwesterly wind will blow along the coast, while a gentle southerly breeze will prevail inland.
A yellow weather warning for rough sea conditions has been issued for the northern and southern coasts.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Friday
Alcoy: 9ºC to 13ºC
Alicante: 11ºC to 18ºC
Denia: 10ºC to 17ºC
Elche: 10ºC to 18ºC
Orihuela: 9ºC to 17ºC
Saturday February 10
Mostly cloudy skies should clear by late afternoon. Night-time temperatures will experience a gradual decrease, with a slight dip in coastal areas, while maximum temperatures will remain relatively stable.
A moderate west-northwesterly wind will blow, punctuated by occasional strong gusts, particularly in inland areas, where a yellow alert has been activated.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Saturday
Alcoy: 6ºC to 14ºC
Alicante: 11ºC to 20ºC
Denia: 10ºC to 20ºC
Elche: 10ºC to 20ºC
Orihuela: 10ºC to 19ºC
Sunday February 11
The sky will be partly cloudy, gradually becoming overcast in the latter half of the day, with a probability of rain inland. Temperatures will fall across the board, leading to frosts in central areas of the province.
A moderate west-northwesterly wind will blow, occasionally strengthening into strong gusts, particularly in the interior. The wind will gradually subside to light in the afternoon.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Sunday
Alcoy: 4ºC to 13ºC
