Alicante ITV strike postponed until October 22
Drivers will have another 3 weeks in which they can do their ITV
The ITV Stations Committee in Alicante and the Valencian Community have, at the last minute, decided to push back their planned strike until October 22.
Originally, the strike was planned to begin on October 2 and to last indefinitely, in a dispute over salary negotiations.
The ITV is a Spanish vehicle inspection certification that is required by law for any car or vehicle to be able to drive on the roads. Staff who issue these certificates are in a pay dispute over wage discrepancies between workers.
At the request of the strike committee, the strike has been suspended so that the management team can get to grips with the current situation of negotiations at SITVAL, the public company that took over all of the ITV concessionaires earlier this year.
Meetings will be held on October 4 from 10am to study whether the agreement will be put into place.
The committee will meet the day before the planned strike, on Octoober 21, to decide on whether to finally go ahead with the strike action.
In that case, it will not be possible for drivers in Alicante and Valencia to have their vehicle’s technical inspection completed.
