ARCHIVED - Alfaz del Pi new beginner Spanish lessons
The course is being held at the House of Culture in the Marina Baixa town, Alicante province
A new Spanish course for beginners begins this week in Aflaz del Pi following huge demand from expats.
Organised by the Pangea Office and the Department of Residents of Other Nationalities, the A1 Spanish course will be held every Wednesday at the Casa de Cultura.
"Given the great demand, we have organised a new Spanish course in addition to those already being taught at the Platja Albir Social Centre," explained the Councillor for Residents, Martine Mertens.
The courses are free and subsidised by Alicante Provincial Council. Students only have to buy the textbook.
"The most important thing to be able to get by normally having moved to Spain is to know the language, hence the interest in these Spanish courses amongst the resident population of foreign origin," added Mertens.
Anyone interested in enrolling in one of these courses can do so by visiting the Social Centre in Avenida Corts Valencianos, or by calling 965 887 328, extension 3368 between 9am and 3pm.
The Pangea Office in Alfaz del Pi is part of the regional government's information/educational network, along with 112 other agencies.
"In addition to the constant supply of courses and activities, aimed at the training and integration of residents, one of the office's most important roles is the personal attention provided in terms of information, advice and guidance for foreigners with emphasis on interculturality," added the councillor for residents.
