A warm spell midweek followed by sudden cold: Murcia weather forecast December 16-22

There will be some variations in temperatures this week, rising midweek before dropping sharply again

We will be lucky enough to have a bit of a leap in terms of the heat in the Region of Murcia midweek, with temperatures jumping up by five or six degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, but for the rest of the week it will be quite cold and cloudy, though with only a small chance of rain.

The weather forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for Monday December 16 is for dry and sunny but sometimes cloudy conditions, “with a small chance of occasional light rainfall”. Temperatures will be “unchanged or falling, with light frost in the north of the Region”.

Tuesday 17 will be similar, with the possibility of some dense banks of fog in the morning. The minimum temperatures at night will be around 2-5ºC in the north of the Region, and 6-9ºC in the south and centre, while maximums during the day will reach up to 14-15ºC in the north and 16-18ºC in the south.

Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 will continue to be cloudy, with only a gentle breeze blowing. Temperatures will rise significantly over the course of the two days, so that by Thursday minimum temperatures at night will be 7-10ºC in the north and 11-14ºC in the south and centre, while maximums during the day will be 20-23ºC in the north and 22-25ºC in the south and centre.

For Friday 20 and going into the weekend, though, it will get much colder – even colder than the beginning of the week, dropping by nearly 10 degrees. Temperatures will be below zero at night in the north of the Region and will barely reach past the mid-teens during the day in the south.

There is even a 15-20% probability of rain on Saturday morning, December 21, especially in the southwest of the Region, around Lorca, Águilas and Mazarrón, but Sunday 22 is expected to be dry, bright and crisp.
