5 beauty spots in Murcia declared places of special geological interest
The order will ensure the protection and conservation of these Murcia assets

Continuing its mission to preserve the natural beauty of Murcia, the City Council has submitted the five unique points in the municipality that will now be considered places of special geological interest, and protected as such.
The newest additions to the list are: Cresta del Gallo, Los Cerrillares, Veritas de Barqueros, La Naveta and Rambla del Pocico, all of them considered places of special geological interest in the municipality.
This valuable urban protection was already extended to the Rambla de los Jurados, Cabezo Negro de Zeneta, Solana del Cerrillar and Sucina last December.
With the new title, these areas will be addressed in the general planning of the municipality through the adoption of conservation measures and limitation of uses.
"The purpose of these plans is to establish urban protection that allows the preservation and conservation of existing geological assets and values in the delimited areas," explained director of the Department of Urbanism and Ecological Transition, Andrés Guerrero.
To ensure that all of the relevant administrations are on the same page regarding the new status of these areas, the agreement will be made available to the CARM General Directorate for Territorial Planning and Architecture and the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, as well as those in charge of the Environment and Cultural Heritage.
