14-year-old boy involved in high-speed police chase in Alicante
The child sped through Alicante city in the wrong direction with officers in hot pursuit
Traffic police in Alicante were involved in a hair-raising, high-speed car chase this week that wound through the city streets at a break-neck pace, but when officers finally managed to pull the car over they were astonished to find it was being driven by a child.
At 3am, a patrol from the Local Police of El Campello spotted a vehicle driving going the wrong way in the wrong lane through the streets of Alicante. When the officers flagged down the driver, he suddenly accelerated and fled in his vehicle.
This sparked a dangerous chase, with the driver navigating through multiple avenues in the wrong direction before entering another municipality. The agents alerted the Alicante Local Police to continue the pursuit. The motorist eventually led the authorities to a dead-end street, where they were able to apprehend him.
It was then that officers discovered that the driver was only 14 years old. His mother arrived at the scene with a lawyer, and the minor admitted he had stolen the car from his house after having an argument with his family.
The young daredevil now faces charges of disobedience to authority, reckless driving and driving in the wrong direction. In addition, it was found that the vehicle had neither passed its ITV nor had insurance cover. The minor revealed that he had learned how to drive by watching online tutorials on social media platforms.
A few months ago, the Guardia Civil in Ourense intercepted a minor who was driving a vehicle without a licence and under the influence of alcohol. Next to him was his father, who was also drunk. The car was pulled over by officers at kilometre 580 of the N-120 dual carriageway, near Santa Cruz de Arrabaldo. Apparently, the father and son duo were heading to the town of Punxín.
