Weather warnings upgraded to orange in Alicante province
The forecast is for torrential rain in the north of Alicante this Tuesday and Wednesday
As Spain braces itself for the arrival of a second DANA in the coming hours, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has upgraded the weather warning in the north of Alicante province to orange, which represents a significant risk.
The new weather front will begin to sweep in on Tuesday evening, November 12 and continue to impact the Valencian Community through Wednesday November 13, with some lingering stormy intervals also expected on Thursday November 14.
According to Aemet, “torrential” rain with accumulations of up to 40mm in one hour is expected on Wednesday.
In addition to the rain, Aemet forecasts a significant drop in temperatures from Tuesday onwards. This is due to the arrival of a mass of cold air from northern Europe, which will affect both mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands.
The weather situation could cause complications, so extreme caution is recommended in the areas under warning.
At the moment, the orange weather alert will come into effect at 9pm on November 12 along the northern coast of Alicante and last until midnight on November 13, after which point it will be downgraded to yellow.
There is also a yellow alert in place during this time for dangerous sea conditions caused by driving winds.
