ARCHIVED - Watch: Madrid metro filled with bats for new Jared Leto movie
The terrifying stunt at the station in Spain was all part of a marketing campaign

The metro station in Madrid was like the scene from a horror movie – or indeed a Marvel comic – last weekend as leaked security tapes appeared on social media of rail passengers being terrorised by hundreds of bats sweeping through the underground station.
The terrifying footage was actually part of an advertising campaign staged by Sony Pictures for the premier of Jared Leto’s new movie, Morbius, which tells the tale of Doctor Michael Morbius (Leto), a biochemist who suffers from a strange blood disorder. While trying to heal himself and provide a cure for the disorder he inadvertently becomes infected with a form of vampirism.
In a unique marketing stunt, Sony flooded the La Gavia metro stop with a flock of bats which shocked waiting passengers as a nod to Leto’s transformation in the Marvel movie into a bloodthirsty anti-hero.
Flipando. Me han pasado estas imágenes filtradas de las cámaras de seguridad del Metro de Madrid. Muy fuerte. ¿Alguien sabe que está pasando en la capital? ¡Por favor! ¡Necesito respuestas! Mi hermana vive en Madrid. ¿Es un espacio seguro de chupasangres? #AlertaMurcielagos pic.twitter.com/ZzMXl4YVdO
