WATCH: Boat in the middle of the motorway causes 2-hour traffic jam in Murcia
The incident happened near kilometre 158 of the A-30 motorway this morning
Nobody likes being stuck in traffic behind slow-moving vehicles, but it’s even more frustrating when that vehicle isn’t even a car but a boat that’s not going anywhere.
That’s what happened this morning, Thursday June 8, in Spain’s Region of Murcia.
A boat that was being transported on a trailer being towed by a car somehow slipped off around kilometre 158 of the A-30 motorway, on the descent to Puerto de la Cadena, in the municipality of Murcia.
The boat blocked off two out of three lanes of traffic on the motorway, forcing cars and other vehicles to slow to a crawl in the left-hand lane to pass, and have a good old rubberneck at the bizarre scene as they eventually passed.

The incident happened at around 8.30am, with the boat leaving skid marks across three lanes where it had crossed from the lefthand all the way to the righthand lane. Traffic was backed up in the area for almost two hours.
Finally, at 10.15am, the boat was removed and normal traffic flow was restored, according to the Emergency Coordination Centre.
From there on, it was ‘plain sailing’ for drivers.
