ARCHIVED - VIDEO: Two cars destroyed in early morning blaze at a garage in the centre of Torrevieja
The fire broke out at a property close to Torrevieja's Sagrado Corazón de Jesús Parish Church
Fire crews were called to a blaze in Torrevieja town centre during the early hours of Wednesday morning, March 22, after flames and black smoke were spotted bellowing out of the garage of a block of flats.
Emergency services were alerted just before 4am but it was reportedly 40 minutes before eight firefighters equipped with two pumps and a ladder arrived at the scene to find flames blocking the entrance to the garage.

Firefighters set to work extinguishing the fire, managing to control the situation and prevent flames spreading to other areas of the building as well as neighbouring properties.
The blaze was doused by 6am and the garage was ventilated to clear the smoke and gases. Fortunately, nobody was injured, but the garage suffered substantial fire damage and two cars parked inside were burned out.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
