ARCHIVED - Valencia region to allow non vaccinated residents to reschedule jab around planned trips
People planning a vacation will soon be able to reschedule vaccine appointments in the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Castellon.
Valencia region's health department will soon allow non-vaccinated residents planning a holiday to reschedule their vaccination appointment around their trip.
As international travel restrictions are relaxed and more and more people start to plan a long-awaited and much-needed holiday, the Valencian government is preparing to allow those who are not yet fully immunised to reschedule their appointments to enable them to travel.
According to the regional president, Ximo Puig, the aim is to "overcome the pandemic and reactivate the economy", while stressing that "at this time, emotional recovery is also essential".
More than three million vaccines have been administered in the Valencian region since the start of the vaccination campaign in December, and this week will see a further 400,000 doses added.
In addition, the immunisation of 40 to 49 year-olds has been brought forward a week, with the first jabs administered on Monday, June 7.
For the last 12 consecutive weeks, the three provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Castellon have been classed as 'low-risk' with an accumulated incidence of below 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, placing Valencia as one of the least contagious regions in Europe.
Details of how to reschedule appointments are expected to be released within the next few days.
