ARCHIVED - Valencia region launches travel voucher scheme with savings of up to 600 euros
'Bonoviaje 2022' bookings with discounts on the Costa Blanca can be made from December 20
The Valencia region's 'Bonoviaje 2022' travel voucher scheme to encourage staycations begins on Monday December 20, offering discounts of 50% and up to 400 euros for stays of between two and four nights, and 60%, or up to 600 euros for stays of five nights or more.
More than 120,000 people benefited from the last voucher scheme, which is open to adults registered in the Valencia region who are "up to date with their tax obligations".
There were around 40,000 bookings involving 1,539 toursim companies in the last round, but the regional government expects the figure to rise in 2022, having allocated a budget of 15 million euros.
"This scheme is undoubtedly positive, and a stimulus for the recovery of the sector and the seasonal nature of tourism that must be maintained," said Valencia president, Ximo Puig, adding: "The tourism sector is facing the pandemic with enormous strength and resilience, despite the enormous difficulties caused by the health crisis. Bonoviaje 2022 will help not only the economic recovery, but also emotional recovery."
The travel voucher scheme for 2022 will give priority to long-stay trips to encourage travellers to spend longer in the region, and anybody interested in applying for a voucher can do so from 10am on December 20 until December 2022.
Vacations must be booked within 10 calendar days of receiving the voucher, and only one voucher per person can be applied for via the regional government's website.
