ARCHIVED - Valencia Covid update September 22: Hospital admissions fall below 200
There are currently 188 people Covid patients on wards across the region, including Alicante province
A downward trend continues in the Valencia region with the number of Covid patients being treated on hospital wards across the three provinces falling to below 200 for the first time in months, according to the latest health data.
The region has also maintained its position as the community with the second lowest 14-day cumulative incidence rate, which stands at 54.04 cases per 100,000 people, behind Asturias with 19.34, and below the national average of 74.19.
New cases
A further 261 new cases have been reported in the Valencia region, up from 187 on Tuesday September 21, bringing the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic to 508,527. By province: 44 in Castellón (52,786 in total); 111 in Alicante (186,373 in total); and 106 in Valencia (269,366 in total).
According to the Business Association of Residences and Services for Dependent Persons, new cases amongst the elderly in homes fell by 84% between September 6 and 12, and one death was reported - four less than the previous week.
Recoveries
351 people recovered from Covid, meaning that to date, 509,430 people in the Valencian region have overcome the virus. By province 53,121 in Castellón; 185,948 in Alicante; and 270,304 in Valencia. There are 57 unassigned discharges.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 188 people admitted to hospitals in the three provinces, down from 209 reported in the last update, 59 of whom are being treated in ICUs: 31 in the province of Castellón, six in ICU; 79 in the province of Alicante, 26 in ICU; and 78 in the province of Valencia, 27 of them in ICU.
Fatalities
There has been reported death in the latest update, which occurred in August, meaning the total now stands at 7,767 since the start of the pandemic: 842 of these fatalities have been recorded in Castellón; 2,973 in Alicante; and 3,952 in the province of Valencia.
Vaccinations
A total of 4,041,059 people have now received one dose of vaccine, and 3,923,634 people are fully immunised with two doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca, or the single-dose Janssen.
In addition, a total of 1,736 people with at-risk pathology and the elderly have received a third booster dose.
Active cases
According to the latest data, there are currently 2,872 active cases in the community, which represents 0.54% of the total positives.
Outbreaks
There have been no outbreaks with 10 or more associated cases reported since the last update.
