ARCHIVED - Urban artists create stunning mural in La Manga
Street artists from Cartagena have transformed the Monteblanco descent which now features giants seahorses, dolphins and flamingos
Local urban artists have completely transformed the Monteblanco descent towards Cartagena at kilometre 3 of La Manga del Mar Menor with a stunning mural depicting various sea creatures and birds.
Creating a spectacular backdrop for selfies and tourist photographs, the team of artists have been working on the project for some time as part of a project promoted by the town council’s tourism department and local residents.
The southern wall features huge seahorses, turtles, dolphins and flamingos, whilst the south wall will be painted navy blue with the words ‘La Manga del Mar Menor’.
The project was given the go-ahead by the town hall and the Youth Council’s graffiti department UrbanCt, two years ago.
“This is a street art project agreed with local residents and artists at the end of 2019 and which was going to be carried out in the first few months of 2020, but due to the pandemic, it had to be postponed. The aim is to beautify that particular part of La Manga,” explained Councillor for Tourism, Cristina Pérez.
