Experience 50 life-sized masterpieces from the Prado Museum in an open-air exhibition on Avenida de la Constitución

This open-air display features masterpieces by renowned artists such as Velázquez, Goya and El Greco. The reproductions are arranged along the avenue, allowing visitors to take a journey through different artistic movements, including the Renaissance, Baroque, and modern periods. Each piece is accompanied by bilingual explanatory panels and QR codes, offering deeper insights into the artworks and their historical significance.
Organised by the Museo Nacional del Prado in collaboration with the Fundación Iberdrola (a foundation that supports cultural and social initiatives), this initiative is part of the museum's bicentennial celebrations. El Prado en las calles has already travelled to over 40 Spanish cities, bringing art closer to communities and encouraging a wider appreciation of Spain’s artistic legacy.
At the inauguration event, Alicante's mayor, Luis Barcala, encouraged residents and visitors "to go out into the street to meet art, history, and the best of our valuable cultural heritage that we are fortunate to be able to enjoy for a month".
Pilar Tébar, the regional secretary for Culture, also highlighted the exhibition’s educational value, noting its accessibility for people of all ages.
Among the standout pieces on display are Velázquez's Las Meninas and Goya's La maja desnuda, both pivotal works in Western art history. The exhibition is designed to be enjoyed at any time of day, making it an easy and enriching cultural activity for all.
Don’t miss this chance to experience the splendours of the Museo del Prado right in the heart of Alicante. Whether you're an art lover or simply looking for an inspiring day out, El Prado en las calles promises a memorable experience.
