ARCHIVED - Two teenagers found hiding in a cupboard after breaking and entering in Teulada, Alicante
A 15-year-old and a 17-year-old have been arrested by officers in Teulada, in the Marina Alta comarca of the Alicante province
Officers from the Guardia Civil in Alicante have detained two teenagers found hiding in a cupboard after carrying out several robberies in cars and houses in Teulada.
The youngsters were found hiding in a rural property, which they were attempting to rob. The police were alerted after neighbours reported hearing loud bangs and breaking glass from a nearby house.
Once at the scene, the officers saw broken glass and torch light coming from inside the building and blocked off the exits. They told the assailants to exit the property, but instead the two teenagers decided to hide in a kitchen cupboard.
The teenagers, aged 15 and 17, resisted arrest at first and one of them had a cut on their arm which required stitches.
Officers searched the culprits’ backpacks and found stolen items from the house along with a wallet and credit card they had stolen from a car earlier that night. The pair had also caused damage to another car and a different property in the Teulada municipality.
Both thieves are now in custody and have been charged with robbery of a house by force, theft from inside a vehicle, damage to a vehicle and damage to a property.
