TUI is launching new flight routes to Spain for people chasing the winter sun
Dubbed the ‘island of eternal spring’, Fuerteventura is now more accessible than ever for people in the UK
Airline TUI has just announced that as of next year the company will be opening up even more flight routes from the UK to Spain’s Canary Islands. Dubbed the ‘island of eternal spring’, Fuerteventura is a popular destination for many who seek to escape the cold winters of the UK in search of sunnier climes.
This desire to find warmer climes in the winter months is the reason that TUI has announced that it will open up routes from Cardiff airport to the island of Fuerteventura starting next year. The route will be the first from the airport for TUI, who operate a number of other flights from Cardiff airport.
The flight route will be officially launching on December 20, 2025, just in time for those hoping to escape the cold next Christmas. TUI has yet to have confirmed how many flights a week it will operate to the island. However, it is known that the company will continue to fly the route until at least the summer of 2026.
The flight out to Fuerteventura is not the only new addition for the TUI company and the routes it is to take from Cardiff airport. TUI is also looking to double its flights to Gran Canaria next winter, with a second flight per week. Meanwhile, Tenerife will increase from three to four flights a week from December 2025 onwards also.
TUI UK&I Commercial Director Phillip Iveson said they were “thrilled” to launch the exclusive new routes: “We know that Welsh holidaymakers love the Canary Islands, and this increase in capacity means they can now fly more frequently and at more convenient times.”
Furthermore, TUI also announced this year that it was launching two new long-haul routes from Cardiff. From February 2026, flights to Barbados will be launched, followed by Cancun in March 2026.
