ARCHIVED - Train linking Denia with Alicante gets back on track this year
Initially, two transfers will be needed to reach the Alicante capital
The train line linking Dénia with Alicante should resume by the end of this year, or at the latest at the beginning of 2023, following a huge cash injection by the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV).
The trip won’t be all plain sailing, however, as initially, passengers will need to transfer trains twice to complete the otherwise relatively short journey, once in Teulada and again in Benidorm. This cumbersome route will continue until the bridges in Benissa, Mascarat and l'Algar are completed, but it does mean that the Alicante-Dénia can reopen earlier than expected.

The only other alternative would be to wait at least another year until the bridges are finished.
The reopening of the rail route was made possible by an investment of 700,000 euros from the FGV and the Department of Territorial Policy. The funds will go towards refurbishing an old warehouse located next to the Dénia station, which will serve as workshops for the new trains.
